PICTURE GALLERY: 1999
4 photos.
And this cross-eyed fellow is Lindley (he's not really crosseyed, just pulling a face!).
The occasion is his farewell party: the man chose the path less trodden, and is now training at a local seminary to become a priest.
This was our last attempt at swaying him from the good path, sometime in January 1999.
He will be in training for 7 years, before earning the collar.
First Renée, then Lindley.
Must everybody go?
Still, he'll make a swell preacher - the man has spirit.

Back at the University of Cape Town, and the first term of study of 1999.
My sister Cecilia is making a weak attempt at putting up the party banner, which was produced over a weekend of arguing and messing around with watercolours.
The poster was advertising the term party for our society, the International Students Organisation.
That's where we raise most of our funds.
Still, as far as fund-raising goes, I can think of less pleasant ways than throwing a mega-dance party.
And the messy banner painting prior to the event is also fun...

From left: Shukri, Jen (Oz), Cecilia, Nathalie (German/French) and Yazir (SA).
This photo was taken on a foggy trip to Robben Island - where Nelson Mandela
was imprisoned for 22 years.
If it wasn't for the mist, you'd be able to see Table Mountain the background,
over Table Bay - the photo was taken from one of the old guardposts on the South of
the island.
We got severely burnt that day, after falling asleep on the beach following a
hearty picnic - the mist fooled us.
Yikes!

The house my cousin built.
I got this photo from my cousin Henrik, taken during an ice-sculpture competition on Greenland.
His team didn't win the overall prize, but their presentation was exceedingly popular
among the little people...
He worked up there for a year and had a whale of a time, keeping us constantly
updated through email and photos.
Ah, the good life!
